| Why We're Here... |
|
North Belfast is an area with a lot of need... Since the “Troubles” began in 1968 the people living within the bounds of the North Belfast Presbytery have suffered more than those within the bounds of any other Presbytery in terms of murder, intimidation, paramilitary activity, imprisonment, interface violence, rioting, poverty, poor health, drug dealing, breakdown of family life, poor educational achievement, demographic shifts of population and the fear which result in people avoiding areas in which they feel threatened or uncomfortable. We have more “peace wall” and interfaces than anywhere else. We believe it is time for the church to engage in fresh mission by being relevant to our culture. The Living Room seeks to do this by having a ministry of presence and service in the area,by listening, learning, praying and by being a witness here in this local community. Our purpose is to connect people to God by making disciples of Jesus Christ. |
